Ålena Vrublevskaya: «Every person has his own Path»
I'm a journalist by my first education. After graduating from Byelorussian State University , I saw myself only in journalism and even had rather successful experience on television. And suddenly there came inner disappointment in the profession I've chosen. A journalist, according to his occupation has to handle an enormous amount of information, but he could have only surface knowledge about everything but at the same time nothing deeply. I felt the necessity to develop further. From all the sciences that I knew only psychology – a science about the soul - gave the opportunity to cognize myself and others through their motivation, feelings and perception of the world. And I entered Leningrad State University , psychological department. It appeared that psychology is mostly based on the oriental philosophy. Then, for the first time I held in my hands the books, which showed me timeless wisdom. Along with my inner discoveries and development grew my interest to Buddhist philosophy, and soon it led me to people, who were practicing Buddhism. They were artists. As a result, the co-authorship with these remarkable people became my diploma-work. Its main idea was that fine art is able to develop the people's spirituality, and also to help them to know themselves better. Some time later the exhibition on Buddhist topic took place. With this event, in 2000, in a very natural way, my gallery activity started. At the beginning of my gallery functioning I wanted to make a project, directly connected with Buddhism. That's why we invited the monks from Gyudmed tantric monastery, and they built incredibly beautiful mandala in the Museum of Modern Art . Communication with Lamas and acquaintance with traditional Buddhist art have completely changed my concept of life, view of the world and of our mutual interconnection. Since that moment I can say that all my thoughts and actions have been leading me to foundation of Tibet House Moscow , which emerged in 2004. After acquaintance with the creative and public activity of Richard Gere and personal acquaintance with Robert Thurman, the president of Tibet House New York , the idea of existence of the same organization in Moscow appeared. It was fulfilled immediately after meeting with His Holiness Dalai-Lama; according to his opinion, this kind of structure is indispensable in our country, where there are three Buddhist republics. In such a way starting with journalism and psychology through art my Path brought me to Buddhism. There happened one large-scale event after another – a huge festival in 2004, which acquainted Russian public with the culture, art and philosophy of Tibet ; in 2005 - festival with participation of three Buddhist republics, dedicated to Dalai-Lama's anniversary. Educational activity was activated –books and films publishing, giving lectures… The desire to bring to the people's hearts the idea that we are loosing incredible and enormous stratum of ancient civilization, always moved me forward. And also it was important to make available everything connected with culture and philosophy of Tibet for western people. It's very inspiring in one's life to be aware of your ability to help and support others. This gives power and feeling of happiness. Happiness, which you want to share all the time. Then you start thinking, where else can I be useful? Exactly in this way the desire to help young actors appeared, and in 2006 there aroused theatre prize “Golden Leaf”. Every year it is an incomparable joy to observe young and talented people obtaining recognition and reward, and their performances living and making spectators happy.
